Putting Yourself Under the Knife at Church

Reading for June 14th: Psalm 1-8
Weekly reading for June 14-20: 2 Corinthians 1-5

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old is passed away; behold, the new has come.
 2 Corinthians 5:17

Our lives don't need a little redecorating. We need a new life; a complete overhaul; a scrape down to the foundations with a bulldozer and start over transformation.

That's what Christ will do in our lives. He will tear down the old and rebuild the new. More than mere cosmetic changes, our new life in Christ is a transformation into the image of God.

But we must allow Christ to make these changes in us. Here's a challenge for you today... When you go to church today don't just sit there passively. Be aggressive.

Listen intently to God's Word and let it penetrate your soul. Put yourself under the knife and let Christ reveal the rottenness and filth and garbage in your heart. Cry out to God for a new heart and let the restoration process begin.

Say the words of this song right now in prayer to God and may these thoughts invade and penetrate your being in every act of worship rendered to God today:

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine Own way!
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay!
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine Own way!
Search me and try me, Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
As in Thy presence humbly I bow.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine Own way!
Wounded and weary, help me, I pray!
Power, all power surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine Own way!
Hold o'er my being absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me.
