God Is In Control

Reading for September 13th: Daniel 9-12

And as for the two kings, their hearts shall be bent on doing evil. They shall speak lies at the same table, but to no avail, for the end is yet to be at the time appointed.
Daniel 11:27

The message of the book of Daniel is simple: GOD IS IN CONTROL!

  • God is the one who "gave" Jehoiakim into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar. (Dan 1:2)
  • God is the one who "removes kings and sets up kings." (Dan 2:21)
  • God is the one who delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fiery furnace. (Dan 3:15, 28)
  • God is the "Most High" who "rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will and sets over it the lowliest of men." (Dan 4:17)
  • God is the one who holds our very breath in his hands. (Dan 5:23)
  • Our God is "the living God" who endures forever, whose "kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion shall be to the end." (Dan 6:26)
  • Our God is "the Ancient of Days" who has a "thousand thousands" who serve him and "ten thousand times ten thousand" stand before him, who sits in judgment over the earth. (Dan 7:10)

O God Most High, the Ancient of Days, the King of Heaven, to you belong glory and might and strength! You rule in the kingdoms of men. You raise up kings and bring down kings. No one can stay your hand or ask, "What have you done?" We thank you for being our God!
