You Are God's Temple

Title:  You Are God's Temple

Reading for April 12:  1 Kings 8-9

And the LORD said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your plea, which you have made before me. I have consecrated this house that you have built, by putting my name there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time."
1 Kings 9:3

These words which God said in response to Solomon's prayer of dedication for the Temple should have special meaning to us as Christians. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).

So some things to think about as you start your day:

  1. You are holy. God has consecrated us for his own purpose and glory. We are not our own (1 Corinthians 6:20).
  2. God's eyes are upon us. He is watching over us no matter where we are.
  3. God's heart is with us. He cares about our welfare. He has invested much in us. We can know and be assured of the fact that God loves us at all times.

Holy, holy, holy God... Keep your eyes on us... Assure us of your love.... Consecrate us to your service that we might glorify your name!
