Sharing Peace
Reading for May 22nd: Ezra 4-7
Weekly reading for May 17-23: Acts 25-28
So take heart, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told.
Acts 27:25
At one of my summer jobs in college I worked with a group of guys who were pretty immoral. They partied and lived recklessly. They knew I was a Christian and would often express their "pity" for my boring life.
However, I do remember one of the guys talking with me about how he envied me because of the peace I had in my life. His life was out of control. He was probably feeling some guilt for the things he had done, and was likely also starting to pay the price for a life of sin.
Paul had confidence in God's promise to save him. His faith shone bright on that ship where everyone was sure they would all be lost. We have also been given promises of salvation by God and can share our faith with others who are lost because of sin.
Father, thank you for the peace and joy we have in believing. Allow our faith to shine so that others might ask us about the hope we have.
