Helping Others with the Word

Reading for June 19th: Psalm 32-35
Weekly reading for June 14-20: 2 Corinthians 1-5

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ... who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Corinthians 1:3-4

Here's another great way you can evangelize: minister to others with the Word!

We are surrounded by people who are hurting. They're depressed, anxious, worried, and lonely. They have financial problems, marital problems, family problems, relationship problems. They have been beaten up by life, suffering from the many negative effects of the Fall, living in a broken world where there is disease, suffering, sin, and death. To make matters worse, they are suffering all of these things while in darkness. They don't know why their world is so messed up, much less what to do about it.

Every single day we read from the book that not only tells the source of these problems but the answer as well! We suffer the same things our neighbors do, but we have a compass, a road map, and a destination. We know where we are, where we're going, and how to get there.

Here's something you can make a part of your Bible study routine. When you're reading a text ask these four questions:

  1. What does this passage say?
  2. What does it mean?
  3. How does it apply to my life?
  4. How can I share this with others?

Father, give us opportunities to minister to others who are hurting with Your Word. Open our minds to what we're reading so we can find life changing applications to help others.
