A Prayer for My Children on the First Day of School
Reading for August 13th: Jeremiah 4-6
Weekly reading for August 9-15: Matthew 25-28
"And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:20
My kids start school tomorrow. Yours may have already started school. What I want to say to all of our kids is to remember this promise. The Lord is with you. He will never leave you or forsake you. He will never let you down. You can trust in him.
I want to encourage you to make prayer a regular part of your day. Ask God for help and strength when bullied or tempted to do evil or stressed by a lot of assignments or tests. Bring your burdens to the Lord (Psa 55:22).
To all the moms out there, I encourage you to remember this promise as well. Remember that God loves your kids more than you do. You have no reason for worry or for fear. Whatever your kids face today and throughout the rest of the school year, the Lord will be right there with them.
Fathers, let's help reduce the stress our wives feel right now by praying with our kids and for them.
Father God, be with our kids today. Help them to remember at all times that you are with them. We do not ask that you take them out of the world but to keep them from the evil one. Sanctify them by your truth. Strengthen them and help them to grow with every trial they face this year.
