Remember the Andre Agassi ads that told us, "Image is everything." Jesus would disagree. Image is nothing. Image can be deceptive. Image can be based on superficial knowledge. Our image can even be the opposite of who we truly are.
I may have a positive image before others, but the Lord knows the real me. He knows what lies behind the image. He knows what is underneath the veneer. He not only knows all I do and all I say, he even knows my thoughts, my motives, my true passions and desires.
"I know your works." Jesus says that to five of the seven churches (Rev 2:2, 19; 3:1, 8, 15). Jesus knows your works, too. What is his evaluation of you?
Father, keep us from self-deception and pride. Help us to see ourselves as we truly are... as you see us!
