God's Not Doing Right
Reading for December 29th: Revelation 13-16
Weekly reading for December 27-31: Revelation 17-22
I'm not sharing my normal devo today. The following is a poem written by Martin Broadwell several years ago. His son Marty shared it with me a few years ago. Presently, Martin is at an assisted living facility suffering severely from dementia. It's hard for those of us who knew his brilliant mind to see him like this. Please pray for him and for his son Marty as he cares for him.
Well, I’ve got some trouble,
And God’s not doing right.
I toil alone all day,
And He’s not there at night.
Money gives me problems,
Affairs are in a mess…
God could make a difference.
Too busy, is my guess.
Private life’s in shambles,
And nothing’s looking good.
God should be more helpful.
If He just understood...
What did the preacher mean
by “open up my life,
To let the Lord come in
And settle down my strife”?
He quoted from the Psalms;
It had a ring indeed!
“A very present help,”
Whenever there’s a need.
Guess I’ll keep on going,
Worrying every day.
Wond’ring if Jehovah
Will ever come my way.
I’ve a funny feeling
That if I’d learn to bow,
And trust my life to Him,
He’d help a lot, somehow...
Father God, please be with our dear brother. We love him and hate to see him suffering like this. Please bless Marty as he tends to his needs.
