The God Who Sees Me
Reading for January 5th: Genesis 16-18
"You are a God who sees me."
Genesis 16:13
Do you ever feel like Hagar?
I think most people feel a little sympathy for her. She seems to be the victim of some bad decisions made by her masters. She didn't ask to be Abram's concubine. She didn't ask to have a child by him. But because these decisions were made she lives a very hard and difficult life.
Some of you may be able to relate to how she feels. You're suffering through no fault of your own. There were decisions made for you. You didn't ask for this. You weren't given a choice. You feel abandoned. You're isolated and alone.
But Hagar was not alone and neither are you.
As you go about your day today, remember that even though no one else knows about your pain that God does.
Father, when no one else knows our pain it is comforting to know that You see us. Meet us in the place of our loneliness and fear and give us the strength we need to endure.
