The Privilege of Daily Worship
Reading for July 13th: Psalms 80-85
For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
Psalm 84:10
It is an indescribable blessing for us today to come into God's "courts" this morning by approaching him in prayer and can read upon his Word!
"My soul longs, yes, faints
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and flesh sing for joy
to the living God." (v 2)
To the psalmist, this is like a physical craving. There is a longing. There is overflowing joy and singing. He would be honored to just hold the door for everyone else going in rather than the alternative.
Take a moment today to meditate upon this sacred privilege. We are coming into the courts of the Lord God!
"For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
from those who walk uprightly.
O LORD of hosts,
Blessed is the one who trusts in you!" (vs 11-12)
