Do You KNOW That God Is With You?
Reading for September 1st: Ezekiel 9-12
And the cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth before my eyes as they went out, with the wheels beside them. And they stood at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the LORD, and the glory of the God of Israel was over them.
Ezekiel 10:19
Do you know that God is with you?
The people assumed that as long as they had the temple that they were safe. The false prophets would assure the people that their enemies could never defeat them because God was with them in the temple.
But they were wrong! Ezekiel witnessed God's presence leaving the Temple in a vision. The people had abandoned their God to worship idols. So, the Lord God left his house. The Lord was no longer with them.
Our God is a jealous God. He will not share. He is not okay with divided loyalty. He wants our complete heart and devotion.
So, do not assume that God is with you when you're giving your heart to other things. When you put your career, or your hobbies, or some relationship, or some selfish desire ahead of the Lord, you are provoking our God to jealousy. You need to repent and pray that God's Spirit will not be taken from you.
Father, we know that you are a holy and a jealous God! Forgive us for our rebellion and our sin! Do not take your Holy Spirit from us!
