God Loves Our Children More Than We Do
Reading for September 10th: Ezekiel 34-36
I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice.
Ezekiel 34:15-16
I remember one night Adrienne and I were praying for the kids about something. I don't remember exactly what it was that we were worried about or exactly how old the kids were at the time. But I remember we were both a little worried about something and we weren't exactly sure what to do.
It was in the middle of this prayer and conversation that Adrienne said something that brought me so much peace and comfort. She said, "You know, God loves our kids more than we do."
She was absolutely right. As much as we love our three kids, God loves them so much more. And as limited as we are in knowing what to do sometimes or how to do it, there is no limit to God's wisdom or power. He knows the end from the beginning. He knows each one of our children better than we could ever know them. He knows exactly what they need.
Father, we take great comfort in your love for our children and the constant care and attention you give them. Guide our parenting with your wisdom and override the mistakes we make. Direct their hearts toward you!
