When Bible Study Becomes a Delight
Reading for November 19th: Acts 16-17
Now these Jews were nobler than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

When many Christians think about Bible study, a word like "eager" doesn't come to mind. Bible study is a chore. It's done only when absolutely necessary or when guilted into it.
In the last year I've gotten back into running. At first it was not all that pleasant, but now it's something I enjoy doing. I enjoy it because of the way I feel when I'm running and the way it's improved my health.
I think that's the way it is with Bible study. It's not easy. Like exercise we have to work at it to see results. However, when we discover something that changes our lives or strengthens our faith, then Bible study becomes something we do with "eagerness."
Father, open our eyes that we may see wondrous things from your law!
