Making a New Year's Resolution Stick
Reading for December 23rd: 2 Peter 1-3
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:18
I'm the world's worst at following through with New Year's resolutions. I've failed to achieve so many of the commitments I've made. An invitation at church this week has inspired me to try again this year. My brother encouraged us to do more than just resolve to do better spiritually, but to think about why we need to do better. What are the specific benefits that will come to ourselves and to others if we were to grow?
I'm giving this some serious thought. Here are the steps I'm going to take:
1. I will make a simple, measurable goal.
2. I will be specific about the details about how and when this goal will be met.
3. I will share this goal with others.
4. I will consider all of the benefits of accomplishing this goal.
Father, help us all in 2017 to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
