A Place Where I'll Never Sin Again
Reading for December 31st: Revelation 20-22
And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.
Revelation 21:23
A phrase out of the hymn "Is It for Me?" struck me recently which says, "I'll be with Thee forever, and never grieve Thee more..."
There is something so attractive and appealing about that thought. We're told that our sinful behavior against God causes the Holy Spirit to "grieve" (Ephesians 4:30). Like a foolish son who brings sorrow to his mother (Proverbs 10:1), we cause great sorrow to God's heart when we callously transgress his law.
How often we had to approach the throne in prayer in disgrace because of our rebellion? How many times have we had to come to the table of the Lord to remember his death with our head bowed low in shame because of our willful defiance? Our heart is broken. We fall on our knees. We can't even raise our eyes to look at him. We know we've grieved him once again.
But one day that won't happen anymore! One day we'll live in a world without Satan! We'll be in a world where there is only righteousness. No more sin! No more darkness! No more guilt! Only light!
Just something to think about as you start your day...
You gave your only Son for us! Why do we sin? We yearn for the day when we'll get to leave this world of sin and dwell in the land of light.
