God's Formula for Restoration
Reading for May 9th: 2 Chronicles 5-7
"...if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14
This is God's response to Solomon's prayer at the dedication of the temple. His prayer was that God would respond from heaven when the people cried out to Him. Solomon knew the people would sin. He knew God would punish them. He prayed that God would hear them when they turned back to God and asked for his help.
God promised that he would respond if the people did four things: (1) humble themselves, (2) pray, (3) seek His face, and (4) turn from their wicked ways.
God has not changed. His mercy is extended to us in the same way, and his expectations are the same as well.
Are you suffering from sin? Do you see your desperate need for God? Isn't it time you humble yourself, pray, seek God's face and turn from your wicked ways?
Father, be patient and merciful with us as we respond to your loving call to repent.
