Natural Evangelism
Title: Natural Evangelism
Reading for March 28: 1 Samuel 19-21
Weekly reading for March 25-31: Luke 1-4
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
Luke 2:20
There are some people that amaze me in the way they can evangelize. It's so natural for them. It's effortless. They always seem to know just what to say and how to say it.
I've gone to seminars where you learn techniques on how to present the Gospel. (I've even taught some of those.)
But I wonder sometimes if we make this more complicated than it has to be. The first "evangelists" who told others about Jesus were just simple shepherds. They didn't go to a seminar to learn how to tell others about what they had heard and seen.
I'm not downplaying the valuable advice the experts can teach us (especially when they're teaching us biblical principles), but evangelism in its most basic form is simply this: giving God glory and praise for Jesus!
Father, help us to see and to value what great things you have done for us so that we might proclaim your praises to all nations!
