To Know and Be Known by God
Title: To Know and Be Known by God
Reading for September 5: Ezekiel 33-35
Weekly reading for September 2-8: Galatians 1-6
But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more?
Galatians 4:9
I received a "devotional starter" from Jack Shearon for Galatians week that focused on this verse. What does it mean to "be known by God?" This is what Jack said:
"The 'known' of the known by God is a very intimate relationship. Vines suggests approval and bears the meaning 'to be approved;' ( Mat. 1:25). When we have that relationship with God, fruit of that relationship is the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. In Gal 3:29, 'And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.' That promise was made almost four thousand ago, and what treasure we have to live that today. Being heir of Father God is the best blessing of all."
I can't add anything to that. Well said, brother.
Father God, what a blessing we have in Christ Jesus to know you! Even better, what a blessing we have to be known by you!
