Where Is Your Jerusalem?
Title: Where Is Your Jerusalem? Reading for September 12: Daniel 6-8 When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. Daniel 6:10 What is your Jerusalem? We should all relate to the story of Daniel. We're exiles living in a foreign land. We're surrounded by people who are not like us. They speak a different language. They worship false gods. And many of them don't like us. The reason for this is simple: we don't belong here. We don't belong in Babylon. We belong in Jerusalem. But what is Jerusalem for us? Jerusalem is the place where God dwells. It is where our Savior has gone to be and is waiting for us to join him. It is that eternal city that has been built for us by God. It is the place where everyone speaks our language. It's where we all worship the true God. It's where we are loved and accepted. It's where we belong. (See Heb 11:10; 12:22; 13:13-14; Rev 21-22.) And whenever we kneel to God in prayer we're facing Jerusalem. Prayer gives us a connection to that place where we belong. Father, thank you for making this place for us where we all fit in and belong. Thank you for building this place for us with the blood of your only Son.
