One Another

Title:  One Another

Reading for November 28:  Romans 11-13

Love one another with brotherly affection.
Romans 12:10

There are at least fifty-five "one another" passages in the New Testament. Among other things, we are to:

  • Love one another (John 13:34).
  • Be devoted to and honor one another (Romans 12:10).
  • Not judge one another (Romans 14:13).
  • Accept one another (Romans 15:7).
  • Admonish one another (Romans 15:14).
  • Serve one another (Galatians 5:13).
  • Bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2).
  • Forgive each other (Ephesians 4:32).
  • Regard each other more important than self (Philippians 2:3).
  • Be honest with each other (Colossians 3:9).
  • Encourage one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
  • Exhort one another (Hebrews 10:25).
  • Confess our sins to each other (James 5:16).
  • Be hospitable to one another (1 Peter 4:9).

If you don't go to church, this is what you're missing. The church is a family that loves and helps each other get to heaven.

If you're part of a church that takes these commands seriously, you probably couldn't imagine living without this. The quality family relationships that come from this are stronger than blood relations.

If you're in a church that doesn't do this, the temptation is to feel sorry for yourself: "Why doesn't anyone do this for me?" But that wouldn't be the biblical response. These "one another" commands are not conditional. We are to bless each other whether we're getting something in return or not.

Want a challenge? Obey one of these "one another" commands every day for a month. Get a notebook. Set a goal for each day. Think of someone at church that you could help. Then do it!

Father, forgive us of our selfishness. Help us to selflessly serve some brother or sister this day.
