What If We Heard God Singing?
Title: What If We Heard God Singing?
Reading for September 25: Zephaniah 1-3
The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
Zephaniah 3:17
Several years ago I got the crazy idea to go to a recording studio with a karaoke CD to record me singing a song to Adrienne. It was our 10th anniversary. It was a song that was played at our wedding. And it was a less than stellar version of that song.
Adrienne loved it.
She loved it so much I've done a song for her each year ever since.
Such is the power of music. It is powerful. It expresses feelings and emotions like nothing else can. That's why we love to sing to God. We love to sing praises to him because those hymns express the thoughts and feelings of our heart in such a powerful way.
That's one of the reasons we long to go to heaven. We want to some day be able to look God in the eye and express to him our deep and profound gratitude as we sing his praises. Won't that be wonderful?
It will be. But I can imagine something even more wonderful. Imagine what it will be like to hear God singing? Imagine hearing God singing loudly over us?
"He will exult over you with loud singing."
Imagine that...
Father, help us to imagine hearing the sweet sound of your voice singing. It is our earnest prayer that we will hear this some day!
