Why Evangelism?
Title: Why Evangelism?
Reading for December 15: 1 Timothy 1-6
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
1 Timothy 1:15
Why did God choose evangelism?
He didn't have to choose this way. There are a lot of ways he could accomplish his purpose of spreading the gospel. In fact, if it were up to me I could think of some much more efficient ways to do it (like sending angels).
But God chose to send us out into the world to spread the good news, and I have a notion as to why he chose this method. My suspicion is that God wants to produce a double blessing through this process, both for the one who receives the message and the one who delivers the message.
Think about it, who was converted in Acts 10? That's the conversion of Cornelius, right? Well, you could make a strong case that it was the conversion of Peter as well.
Every time you tell someone else about Jesus, you're being blessed yourself.
- It strengthens your faith. It helps to solidify the most fundamental, bedrock beliefs we hold to be true about Christ Jesus.
- It deepens your hope. It helps you to remain focused on the things that really matter.
- It rekindles your love. It takes you back to the Cross in a powerful way as you point others to Jesus and the reason why you have given your life to Him.
Father, may our faith, hope, and love for you grow as we share the message of the Cross with others.
