Access to Power
Title: Access to Power
Reading for May 25: Esther 1-5
"All the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces know that if any man or woman goes to the king inside the inner court without being called, there is but one law--to be put to death, except the one to whom the king holds out the golden scepter so that he may live."
Esther 4:11
Imagine you had a friend in the White House. Suppose that this friend could give you special access. Whenever you had a problem, you could ask to talk to the President. Just call your friend and you're talking to the most powerful man on earth. Wouldn't it be nice to have a friend like that?
Now imagine that this friend was so important in the White House that if you had a really big problem you could actually sit down and meet with the President face to face. That's right! You and the President sitting down in the Oval Office to discuss your needs! And the President was genuinely concerned about your problems because your friend had that kind of pull.
Sounds unlikely, doesn't it? Would never happen, right? No one could give us that kind of access. And even if they did, we're not important enough that the President would care all that much to listen.
But wait a minute...
We do know Someone. We know Someone who can intercede for us. We know Someone who can give us face to face access to the Almighty!
We know the Son!
"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16
O Father, who are we that we should be welcomed into the presence of the holy, holy, holy God! Thank you, loving Father, for such a privilege as this!
