Faith Is the Victory!
Title: Faith Is the Victory!
Reading for June 24: Psalms 107-111
Oh grant us help against the foe,
for vain is the salvation of man!
With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes.
Psalm 108:12-13
Faith is the victory!
As I read these words I thought of that great song. When Israel tried to fight their enemies without God they lost. Every single time. When they put their faith in God and trusted in him for success, they never failed.
Faith is the victory!
Vain is the salvation of man. When we try to battle temptation and struggle against the wiles of the devil by ourselves, we will struggle in vain. But when we are "strong in the Lord and in the power of His might" the devil flees.
Faith is the victory!
So be strong and courageous my brothers and sisters! Trust in the Lord and in his mighty power! We are the victors! We have overcome the world!
His banner over us is love,
Our sword the word of God.
We tread the road the saints above
With shouts of triumph trod.
By faith they, like a whirlwind's breath,
Swept on o'er every field.
The faith by which they conquered death
Is still our shinning shield.
