Reading for March 4: Deuteronomy 14-16
"But if he says to you, 'I will not go out from you,' because he loves you and your household... then you shall take an awl, and put it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your slave forever." Deuteronomy 15:16-17
Do you feel like a slave at your job? You should! Only you should feel like a willing slave for "you are serving the Lord Christ." (Colossians 3:24)
Whether you are bagging groceries, managing corporate assets, cleaning bathrooms, wiping runny noses, crunching numbers, changing diapers, or answering phone calls all day... do it cheerfully with a willing heart, "knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord." (Ephesians 6:6)
Lord, take us to the door with your awl. We will most gladly be your slaves today.
