Nowhere I'd Rather Be
Title: Nowhere I'd Rather Be
Bible Reading for June 29: Psalm 80-85
For a day in your courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
Psalm 84:10
There are so many reasons why we are blessed to assemble with the saints.
- We are encouraged by our brothers and sisters.
- Parents can pass their faith onto their children.
- Husbands and wives draw closer as they share their faith.
- We can serve those who are hurting with emotional and spiritual support.
But the greatest blessing when we assemble together for worship is communion with God. Consider these psalms:
One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
and to inquire in his temple.
Psalm 27:4
O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
Psalm 63:1-4
I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
Psalm 122:1
Aren't we blessed? Worship on this side of eternity is a foretaste of what we'll experience in heaven. In worship God has given us the opportunity to commune in close fellowship with him. And that's a little piece of heaven on earth.
Father, we thank you for the privilege we have to gather with your people and praise and worship you!
I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
